"Endling" porcelain piece

An Endling is the name given to the last surviving member of a species before it goes extinct.

I poured the child cast in porcelain and covered it for the weekend. After it had set a little, I applied 2 slabs to complete the top of the skull; the slipcast has a spout top, presumably because the doll factory set it came from had a separate mold for the hair cap.

I steadily blended them onto the cast using a serrated kidney, glueing the slab down with thick porcelain slip.

I'm really pleased with how it came out.

The bottom of the neck got sliced off so it could sit level to, and be blended in with, the base of the porcelain bowl that I slip-cast next.

Looking at the first image, I like it with the clingfilm over the face. Even though it's only a technical thing to keep the clay wet, it does add tension and discomfort to the piece, plus it brings plastic into the conversation.
