Fantastic Planet
The woman in the voiceover is hilarious!
I absolutely love this film and if you haven’t watched it, I implore you do so.
I recently saw that they’ve reissued an anniversary edition of the soundtrack, pressed on this beautiful 70s-style yellow vinyl, and it reminded me that I hadn’t seen it in years. So I watched it again, partly because I’ve been thinking a lot about the role of surrealism in rebellion and political commentary.
I’d forgotten how graceful and quietly lovely it is. There’s something to think on in that. That absurdity, tenderness and resistance can co-exist. I’m going to watch it again soon, sketchbook in hand this time.
