Print trial and error

When I first printed my edited version of this piece, the one with the hole right the way through, it generated an error where the whole print moved to the right by 5mm. Slight but visible. The devil's in the detail. Apparently. 

I tried to touch it up with filler as an experiment. The overall effect doesn't work, but it was worth trying to salvage it and I learnt a lot doing it.

What really did work from this print run was my choice of color pattern, which I will replicate in the next version of this piece. I have some different wood PLAs to experiment, which are biodegradable and create a more organic matt finish to prints and I think I will use the beige and red filaments.

The red choice adds a sense of drama/ danger. And the red placement at the top of the piece creates visual excitement, drawing the eye to the an ambiguous and uncomfortable area. Are they hips or wings. I'm still not sure and I like that.
