Advanced Studio Practise Proposal

For this project I want to expand on my rug making practice, scaling up in size and developing the complexity of my design. This will be my main piece and after falling head over heels for the Wilder Mann: The Image of the Savage Book by Charles Fréger I decided to take inspiration from folk costume and mythological archetypes.

I also want to do more 3D printing, scaling up old designs and experimenting with new ones. If I can include some form of textiles I will; I still have the bandages I sourced for my specialist studio practice project as well as the reclaimed parachute ripstop fabric.

And lastly but not leastly, I want to scale up my Who’s In Charge? bull screen-print, screenprinting onto an industrial surface like a industrial warehouse/ butchers curtain to add more violence and impact to the piece.

I know that this is an ambitious proposal. I know I am sometimes overly ambitious in relation to timeline. But this is my last chance to do a big push and make strong resolved work ready to present at my graduate show as well as the other exhibitions I have later this year.

I have deliberately made this proposal far looser than my specialist module proposal. This is in part to not overprescribe the work at any early stage. And in part a nod to my gain in confidence that good resolved work will emerge if I just commit to making.

I'm moving into my new studio at the moment which will prove a good base for all this activity I'm sure.
